Chief Minister makes personal delivery of commission report to Union home minister

IMPHAL, May 18: Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has today left for Delhi to personally hand over the final report of the one man PG Agarwal commission instituted to probe the July 23, 2009, BT road firing incident to the Union home minister P Chidambaram.

According to an official source the Chief Minister is likely to hand over the 80-page inquiry report of the commission to the Union home minister this afternoon.

The source stated that the CM left Imphal this morning following a positive indication from the Union Home Affair, government of India regarding his meeting with the Union home minister P Chidambaram.

Sensing the keen interest of the union home ministry in the proceedings of the July 23, 2009, BT road firing incident which had left two dead including a pregnant women and a former UG cadre and with New Delhi based news magazine Tehelka publishing photographs related to the incident, the state government is taking serious care on the submission of the final report of the commission with the Chief Minister himself taking it to the national capital, the source added.

It is also worth mentioning that it will be the first time in the history of the state that a Chief Minister of the state has made the initiative to submit a completed judicial inquiry report directly to the Union home minister personally.

Meanwhile it may be mentioned that the PG Aggarwal Commission which was instituted to probe the the July 23, 2009, BT road firing incident in which one Rabina Devi and a former UG Sanjit was killed in an alleged encounter involving Manipur police Commandos, had in a simple function yesterday handed over its report to the additional secretary, state Home department M Yaiskul Meitei.

The one man commission had take one and a half year to wrapped up the inquiry and submit the 80 page report to the state government.
