IMPHAL, May 15: With the slogan ‘Stop domestic torture to women, women are human beings not animal or commodity’ the parental family of late Hijam Ningol Loitonjam Ongbi Dharsana and local clubs and meira paibies organized a sit in protest at Palace Gate demanding proper investigation with regard to the suspicious dead of Dharsana.Mention may be made here that Dharsana was found dead hanging from a ceiling fan at her husband’s residence on May 12 and her parental family members had believed of a foul play in her death. While speaking to media persons a meira paibi identified as Wahengbam ongbi Joyrani disclosed that the death of H Dharsana is very suspicious and hence her family and local clubs had approach the Singjamei police station with a complaint petition requesting to register a case to investigate upon the death of Dharsana at her husband’s residence, which was however rejected. Another complaint has also been made at the State Women Commission, she added. Placards saying “ Investigate the death of Dharsana, OC Sharat ki Thou-ong yaningde, who kill Dharsana, stop domestic torture,” etc were used during the protest against the suspicious dead of Dharsana.
