Farmers` stir: UP police arrest Rahul Gandhi

Greater Noida, May 11 (Agencies): Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi Rahul Gandhi was arrested by UP police in Bhatta Parsaul village on Wednesday night. He will be presented before sub-divisional magistrate on Thursday.
Gandhi has been arrested under Sec 151 CrPCat Bhatta Parsaul after he joined farmers agitation against land acquisition.
Earlier in the day, AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi pledged full support to farmers fighting against acquisition and promised not to desert them till their demands are met.
He reached Bhatta Parsaul village, the epicentre of the agitation in Western Uttar Pradesh, in the wee hours riding pillion on a motorcycle.
Rahul sat with the agitating farmers throughout the day in scorching heat to empathise with their cause and women who lost their men.
“I want to tell you that I am with you till your demands are met. Till your work is not done, the Congress party will not desert you,” he said.
