Former militant promises end of water woes

IMPHAL May 20: In his persisting initiative to alleviate water woes of villagers under the Keirao constituency former chairman of the Peoples’ United Liberation Front (PULF), MI Khan has reinstated a river lift water supply at Langdum today.
The former militant leader turned aspiring politician also assured the people to completely relieve the whole constituency from the misery of water scarcity in the near future, during a meeting held in connection with the reinstating of the pumps of the river lift water supply held at Langdum, today.
The meeting was attended by members of local bodies, women folk and youths of the entire constituency including water management committee, Keirao Langdum.
Further speaking during the meet, MI Khan, openly challenge social workers to compete in pragmatic works for the welfare of the people instead of imparting lip service before adding it is upto the people to decide whom to choose.
MI Khan further assured the gathering to convert Langdum area into a model village and to take up schemes to give economic empowerment to women.
Ashem Babu Singh, secretary of the water management committee, revealed that the area is solely dependant on a canal fed by the Iril river. The canal running through the area is the lifeline of the people however it has been lying dried up for about 8 months adding an additional misery amidst the deplorable condition of roads, drinking water systems etc. in the area.
Nabakumar, executive member of Chanam Sandrok development committee, lamented that people of Keirao constituency are in a grim situation for the people has chosen a wrong representatives adding he urged the people to exercise their voting rights carefully this time.
