IMPHAL, May 9: Reacting to the news report of the arrest of a UG cadre identified as a cadre of the PULF MI Khan group by a combined team of security forces, the former chairman of the group, MI Khan has clarified that the persons is not related with him in any way as he had earlier proclaimed to have severed all ties with the group by announcing his retirement from the group.The former chairman gave his clarification during a press meet held at his Keirao residence today. Briefing media persons the former militant leader maintained that he had already made his retirement and severing of all ties whatsoever with the outfit public, through a media briefing after being released from the Sajiwa central jail on March 25 this year.He further maintained that he had announced to step in the political arena to serve the people by embracing the constitution of India, during the same media breifing.However despite the fact that he had announced his retirement and severed all ties with the outfit and desire to enter into politics, his name is still used alongwith the party as is evident with the recent news report of the arrest of the outfit by a combined security force. Calling the misinterpretation of his name and using it alongside the name of the outfit as unfortunate, he also contended that some of his adversaries and political rivals are also trying to malign his reputation.He further stated that his family has been receiving many threats in the form of mobile messages lately, and as such he has appealed to all the concerned to restrain from repeating such mistakes in the future.It may be recalled that a press statement issued by the SP of Imphal West district police on May 7 had stated that a combined team of the district police commandos, 18 Sikh Regiment and 28 Assam Rifles has arrested one cadre of PULF MI Khan near Sekmaijin Bridge identified as one Md. Amir Ahamed alias Phaja, 21, s/o Maniruddin of Lilong Shabru Makhong, who disclosed that he joined the outfit in the year 2009 through one Bikram and working finance section.A nine 9mm pistol along with five live rounds were seized from his possession, added the release.
