IMPHAL May 30: In relation to the shoot out incident that occurred on the night of May 28 at Maring Lane, New Checkon under Wangkhei A/C, a press conference was held at the residence of O. Henry social worker today in the regard.
He clarified that he had no knowledge of the incident and was not involved in any way. He added that he came to the area after receiving due information from a civil organization that an unwanted incident has happened in the vicinity of Maring Lane. Responding to the appeal, Henry approached the area but found minister Y Irabot and his escort team were already their. Some shots were fired by Irabot’s escort first and in self defense his escort also fired some rounds in the air, he maintained.
He stated that the charges framed against his workers to abduct some persons are baseless and no such incident took place, he had left the area after being advised by security personnel to leave the spot for security reasons and he had acknowledged it, he further added.
But he went to the spot yesterday and met with several civil organizations of Maring Lane and further told them to bring an end to the issue so as to enable peace to return to the area.
