Indo-Myanmar discussions to range from insurgency issues to intelligence exchange: source

IMPHAL, May 22: The 18th sectoral Level meeting between India and Myanmar including official representatives from Manipur and officials concerned of the Myanmar government is scheduled to be held at Kalemyo, Myanmar from June, 9-10 next month and will discuss mainly on the security related issues between the two countries.
According to a highly placed official source the proposed sectoral level meeting between the two countries will discuss the security related issues like the Indian Insurgent Groups (IIGs) operating along the India-Myanmar border and also on measures to counter the problem; functioning of Mou on Intelligence Exchange Cooperation, review of existing intelligence sharing mechanism and arms smuggling, drug trafficking, training of Myanmar police officers, Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLT) on Criminal Matters, Smuggling of  Wildlife parts and products.
On the other hand in view of the proposed meeting at Kalemyo, the state home department had issued official directives to all concerned departments to furnish their detailed information on the above mentioned issues on or before May 21 for convening a preparatory meeting by the state government for discussion on each issues of the proposed agenda.
