IMPHAL May 20: The joint action committee against the killing of Roberoy has lessened its earlier stand on claiming the lifeless body Roberoy, as it has informed to claim the corpse tomorrow.
The development comes following substantial assurances from Government’s part today in different sittings held with the JAC. The representatives of the JAC met the Chief Minister in charge, Th. Debendra, this morning in the absence of Chief Minister O Ibobi who is yet to return from his New Delhi trip.
Meanwhile another round of meeting was also reportedly convened between the JAC and Bishnupur DC and ASP, today at Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou ward number 4.
Sources from the JAC informed that they had decided to claim the body following the substantial assurances from the part of the Government however the JAC further informed that there will not be any change in the deadline and vows to go ahead with its own course of action if the Government fail to meet it.
It may be recalled that the JAC yesterday announced that they would not accept the corpse of Roberoy until the culprits involve in the killing are booked and all its other demands are met with.
The JAC had put up several demands which includes compensation and set a deadline to meet it within seven days failing which they warned to undertake certain forms of agitation.
Meanwhile several organizations has sent in their condemnation of the ghastly act of killing the young boy.
According to a release, the North East Dialogue Forum expressed strong condemnation on such heinous crimes perpetrated on innocent women and children. Sharing the grieves and sorrows of the bereaved families, the organization has appealed and demanded the state government to initiate stringent actions to book those responsible in the crime and punish aptly as per the rule of law of the land. It has also appealed the state government to protect the lives of innocent women and children to reduce such heinous crimes from recurring in the future. Incidentally, a similar incident had occurred on April 16, in which, Soibam George alias Abungo, 10, S/o S. Jugindro Singh of Thangapat Mapal was also found hanging in his own residence, it added.
In another separate release, the Women Action for Dvelopment has also strongly condemned the act.
It has further appeaed to the government to take immediate action against the culprits.
Mention may be made that Roberoy was found hanging inside a room at the Ibudhou Thangarel Haraobung compound at Ningthoukhong on May 18 with both his legs and hands tied.
