IMPHAL, May 3: In a bizarre incident, a man was found dead inside his car in the morning today near Catholic school Canchipur, under Singjamei police station.
The victim is identified as one Irom Haimo Singh, 43, s/o Mangoljao of Liwa Lambi Chanam Pukhri Mapal.
Family sources disclosed that the deceased left home on his car yesterday morning around 11 am to withdraw money from the bank. The victim had taken pension books of elders of the locality and ATM cards along with him before he left, said the sources.
However he was found death this morning inside his newly bought car (I-10 car).
Sources from the police said that the victim was found with bruise mark on his neck and left hand. Moreover all his belonging including his gold chain and ATM card were found missing.
The police speculated that the victim might have been died due to overdose of drugs however family members have over-ruled the idea.
Meanwhile, a public meeting was held in this connection at the Chanam Pukhri Mapal Ahongsangbam Leikai wherein a Joint Action Committee against the killing was formed.
The JAC later submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Manipur demanding to book the culprits involved in the alleged murder within three days and asserted that the body of the decease will not be claimed until that.
In the memorandum the JAC also demanded from the government to provide compensation to the kins of the victim and at the same time warned that they would resort to taking up certain forms of agitation if the government fails to fulfill its charter of demands.
