IMPHAL, May 28: On the occasion of Meira Paibi day, the Loktak Brigade under the Red Shield Division felicitated Meira Paibis of the entire region and the adjoining areas of Ningthoukhong, Bishenpur district, according to its press release.
The occasion was attended by Brigadier Laove Verma, sena medal, commander of Loktak Brigade. Around one hundred Meira Paibis attended the function. The Brigade Commander praised the Meira Paibis for their commendable role in the development and welfare of the people. He further stated that the Meira Paibis have been the torchbearers of social engineering and women empowerment since the conception of the movement and have successfully battled against the evils of alcoholism, drug abuse and social crimes. He assured that the army fully supports the people friendly initiatives taken up by the Meira Paibis and urged them to bring back the misguided youth into mainstream, it added.
The Meira Paibis further thanked the Loktak Brigade for organizing the event and praised the sincere and purposeful efforts of the Loktak Brigde.
