Militant cadres arrested

IMPHAL, May 17: At least three cadres belonging to separate under ground organizations were apprehended by the security forces during different counter insurgency operations conducted in different parts of the state since the last two days.

According to an official release of Sr. SP Imphal West, a combined team of Imphal West District police commandos and 116 BSF arrested one active cadre of the underground group KYKL identified as Oinam Bhumeshore alias Khogen, 31, s/o O Pishak of Sekmaijin Maning Leikai from a road crossing in between Changangei and Uchekon village yesterday morning around 7.10 am.

The official release further mentioned that, on spot verification by the security forces the arrested person disclosed that he joined the outfit in the year 2007 and got basic military training under the command of one s/s Ingba of KYKL as 23rd Batch. One mobile handset was recovered from his possession, it added.

Another release issued by the PRO, IGAR (South) mentioned that discovering the movement of UG cadres across the international border, the troops of 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector conducted an operation in the area and apprehended one cadre of the underground KCP identified as s/s Pvt. Usmain Gyani alias Babu of Lilong.

One lethod grenade, one mobile phone and one extortion note of KCP were recovered from his possession and the apprehendee along with the seized materials was handed over to Imphal West police station, it added.

Similarly, a combine troop of 30 Assam Rifles and 18 Sikh of 9 Sector along with police representative apprehended one s/s sgt. of the proscribed PLA this morning during search operation at Khurai Sajor Thoidingjam Leikai.

The arrested PLA cadre has been identified as Moirangthem Bocha alias Leo, 42, s/o late M Nungshi of Khurai Sajor Thoidingjam Leikai, the release added.
