IMPHAL, May 16: At least four cadres of different UG outfits were arrested by security forces during the last 48 hours.In a press release by the Bureau (Defence wing), Government of India said that the joint troops of 33 battalion Assam Rifles under Loktak Brigade of Red Shield Division , 18 SIKH Regiment and Mayang Imphal police commandos launched a special search operation in the general area of Phugakchao today and apprehended a cadre of KCP(MC) KK Nganba group.According to the release the arrested cadre is identified as one Md Raffid, 26, s/o Md Borbam of Phoubakchao.It further stated that acting information provided by the arrested cadre a team of the 33 AR, 18 Sikh regiment and Mayang Imphal police commandos carried out a special search operation and apprehended Md Abidur Rahman, 27 s/o Tayeb Ali of Begun and Md Masibur Rahman, 25, s/o Abdul Maran of Begun, Imphal west.It further said that during the search operation the combined teams recovered one Chinese mine and seven 7.62 mm live rounds from their possession and on preliminary interrogation the cadres revealed that they were involved in recruitment, tax collection, extortion and collection of money for their outfit from Phoubakchao and Bengun areas located in Imphal west District.The arrested cadres were later handed over to Mayang Imphal Police Station, added the release.According to another official release of the Imphal west district SP, acting on a credible information, the Imphal West Police commandos had arrested one NSCN activist from Dewlahland under Imphal west police station.It has identified the individual as one Donald Chiphang alias Tonreimung Chiphang 23, s/o late Mathingmei Chiphang of Greenland Ukhrul.On spot verification the individual stated that he is involved in extortion from the general public and misguiding the young boys, added the release.
