TAMENGLONG, May 13: Taking serious note of non availability of District Social Welfare Office staff and non availability of Widow Pension scheme form at the concern department the Zeliangrong Student Union Manipur and Zeliangrong Youth Front zone Tamenglong has demanded that the District Social welfare Officer Tamenglong and ICDS officials should be remain at their station within five days from today.
Issuing widow pension scheme forms at Imphal for the people of Tamenglong has nothing but dishonored the Zeliangrong people and it is against the government norm that the department did not make any notification about the scheme, they said.
Meanwhile a highly place source inform the reporters that Widow Pension Scheme form has been issued from the Directorate of Social Welfare Department, Government of Manipur and it has been issuing at the MLA quarters and MDC (ADC) office in Imphal. The source also disclosed that on investigation the District Social Welfare Office Tamenglong was found to have remained closed till date.
On further investigation it is found out that the District Social Welfare Officer Tamenglong, A Kameshore Singh has been transferred to Bishenpur district, however the new District Social Welfare Officer did not like to come to the new posting place Tamenglong. The source said that till date the officer has not join or reported to the district administration.
For those genuine widows who are poor and have no convineince to go down to Imphal to collect the forms are deprived of their rights, the source said.
The last date for submission of the widow pension scheme form is May 15, the source added.
