IMPHAL, May 26: The Imphal East police have recovered at least three live hand grenades which were suspected to be placed by suspected militants at a residential campus under Imphal East district today.
The recovery of the Chinese live hand grenade which was suspected to be placed late night was recovered this early morning from the residential compound of Dr O Heramod, asst. Prof. Radio Diagnosis JNIMS at Palace Compound.
The said hand grenade was initially recovered by the family members this early morning and who made an official complaint to the Imphal East Police station immediately. Later a team of Imphal East police came to the spot and removed the bomb safely from the spot.
It may be mentioned that, Dr Heramod and another officer of the JNIMS were under serious threat from one of the underground KCP faction.
In yet another incident, a house belonging to Laithangbam Shyam of Wangkhei Angom Leikai, a manager of an insurance company was attacked twice by placing hand grenades today.
According to the official source, the Imphal East police initially removed a hand grenade which was suspected to be placed by the militants this early morning around 8 am and later another hand grenade was found again this afternoon from the same spot, the source added.
