IMPHAL, March 24: The Out Patient Department (OPD) and administrative block of the Regional institute of Medical Sciences have been closed down indefinitely from this afternoon following an intense threat from a faction of the KCP militant group.
The blocks were closed down around 1 pm this evening all of a sudden leaving patients at the OPD section clueless and hapless.

On receiving information of the sudden closure of the blocks, a media team rushed to hospital to take stock of the situation.
When contacted, the Medical Superintendent In charge of the hospital, Prof. H. Shanti, disclosed that the authority were compelled to close down the two blocks owing to a diktat imposed by an individual who identified himself to be an activist of one of the KCP factions over the phone.

Prof. H. Shanti maintained that the militant group called him up on the phone asked him to close the blocks and warned of dire consequences if the authority failed to pay any heed.

When queried about the exact reason behind the imposition from the militant group, the Medical Superintendent however failed to respond the exact reason behind the threat imposed upon the two blocks. Nevertheless he disclosed that there has been a threat to close down the administrative block from the same militant group recently which he hinted had emerged over some misunderstanding with the director of the hospital.

Prof. H. Shanti further appealed the organization concerned and the director to bring an amicable solution at the earliest to bring normalcy in the institute in the interest of the people.

The OPD and A block will remained closed until an understanding is brought between the director and the militant group informed the Medical Superintendent incharge.

On the other hand, the threat did not affect the functioning of the Ward patient, casualty and operation theater.
