State government approves compensation for minister

IMPHAL, May 19: The state government has approved to sanction a sum of Rs.96,04,449 as compensation to minister DD Thaisii, as claimed by the minister himself for destruction and damage caused to his residential building at Senapati district HQ on the intervening night of June 1 and 2 last year by suspected activists of anti-ADC 2010 election in the Hills Tribal areas.

According to an official source, the state cabinet in its recent sitting has approved for the compensation after taking into count the official memorandum submitted by the Commissioner (Hills), BB Sharma incorporating the assessment report on the extent of damaged caused to the residential building at Senapati district HQ on the intervening night of June 1 and 2 last year by unidentified arsonists however suspected to be activists who were against the ADC election.

The source further mentioned that the formality of the assessment of the lost properties that have been caused to the residence of the minister DD Thaisii located at Senapati District head quarter has been officially examined by the concerned police station and the assessment of property lost in the public movement have been done officially by the DC Senapati district.

The official assessment of lost properties as assessed by the district administrator along with the FIR case taken up in connection with the total burning down of the house belonging to the minister DD Thaisii was submitted to the state government for compensation, and the matter was brought up during a recent state cabinet meeting wherein it was decided to accord the sanction of Rs.96,04,449 as compensation, the official source added.
