IMPHAL May 13: The state government will hold talks with the United Naga Council to deliberate on the demands made by the apex Naga body. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting held at the Chief Minister`™s secretariat today.
SPF spokesperson N Biren briefing the media on the cabinet decisions said that the proposed talk with the UNC will be held on May 30 at Senapati.
To discuss the demands ahead, the state government will intimate the Ministry of Home Affairs to communicate with the UNC and further for the latter to submit their charter of demands one week prior of the scheduled date of talks. From the state government side, minister N Biren, D D Thaisii, TN Haokip, chief secretary DS Poonia and other officials of the planning department among others will attend the talks with the UNC. Central government representatives will also accompany the government officials, stated the SPF spokesperson.
It may be mentioned that the first rounds of talks scheduled last year was unfruitful as the Naga representatives refused to meet the ministerial team at Senapati then. The UNC had demanded that the result of the ADC election then held be declared null and void, and further to institute a judicial inquiry into the death of two youths killed at Mao.
The cabinet also resolved to increase the DA/DR of government officials from 45% to 51 % with effect from April 1, 2011 onwards.
Further, 16 posts for grade 3 and 4 staff will be recruited for the Industrial Training Institute at Takyel on contract basis.
