UCM reacts to NSCN (IM) ahead of June 18 observance

IMPHAL May 11: United Committee Manipur (UCM) in a press statement by its publicity secretary Nilamani Kha Nganba alleged that the Indian Government in collusion with the NSCN (IM) has made repeated attempts to create disharmony among the different communities residing within the state.
According to the statement the attack on MLA Wungnaosang Keishing by the NSCN (IM) cadres is yet another example of their underhand tactics and is an indirect threat to the state, and behind the veil of the alleged ceasefire, countless crimes are still being perpetrated, which is common knowledge to the public.
UCM demands that such illegal activities of the outfit should be stopped immediately and the Indian government should remove the camps from the territory of Manipur, stated the release.
If left unaddressed, then the crimes will continue unabated, but UCM and the public of the state will rally against the perpetrations of the NSCN (IM), it said.
UCM will observe “The 10th Great June Uprising Day” which falls on June 18 and a committee has been instituted in the regard. The organization appeals the general public to extend cooperation in the memorial observance of the 18 martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the integrity of the state, it added.
