Union home minister likely to make another visit to state soon

IMPHAL, May 7: The Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram will be arriving in Imphal on May 10 for a two day visit to the state. According to a highly reliable source, the Union Home Minister is likely to meet various sections of the society including leaders of several civil society organisations. The Home Minister will also visit Ukhrul district headquaters on May 11 to inaugurate the newly constructed Mini Secretariat building, the source added.The same source further said that the minister will be arriving at the Imphal Tulihal airport on May 10 afternoon by a special BSF aircraft.Soon after his arrival, he will directly head towards Raj Bhavan and hold a security meeting with the Governor which will be followed by a called on meeting with the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh at the later’s office. Further deliberating on the Minister’s stay, the source maintained that he will halt for the night at the Imphal Raj Bhavan.The next day, he will visit Ukhrul district headquarters to inaugurate the Mini Secretariate building.After returning to Imphal the same day, the Home Minister will meet leaders of civil society organisations and hold a meeting with various civil society leaders before heading for New Delhi later in the day.In the meantime, a high level security meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s secretariat yesterday which was chaired by the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh. The meeting was also attended by high ranking officials of the Army, Assam Rifles, DGP, chief secretary etc., the source said adding state government has received official intimidations about P Chidambaram’s visit.
