IMPHAL, May 13: Security forces have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions and arrested several underground cadres from seperate incidents in the state.A combined team of 13 BSF battalion and 23 Assam Rifles has recovered a cache of arms and ammunitions from Nongren area of Ukhrul district during a search operation conducted today, said a statement issued by the PRO Assam Rifles.It said the recovered items include a Chinese 9 mm Auto Rifle with magazine, one Chinese 9 mm Pistol with magazine, 6 live rounds of 9mm and 5 live rounds of 7.62 mm. It said in another incident, troops of 29 Assam Rifles launched operation in general area Tegnoupal on May 13. At around 12.30 pm, the troops apprehended a Myanmarese national from a Maruti Van bearing regd No. AS 23B 1720 without valid documents. The individual was identified as Md Korim,19, s/o Jwalamisa of Nidan ki Ruwa, Kyoto (Myanmar). One mobile phone and a fake Nepal School id-card were recovered from the him and has been handed over to Tegnoupal Police station, it said.Meanwhile the Imphal East district police commandos arrested one cadre of the proscribed PLA from Wangkhei on May 12 at around 10:30 am said a statement issued by SP office of the district.The individual is identified as one Ksh Ningthoujao Singh of Langjing Achouba.A hand set (Samsung) and one driving license and Honda active (No.MN065-7168) were recovered from his possession.It said on verification he disclosed his involvement in extortion of money from general public and further stated that the extorted amount were deposited in the SBI account No.30874674369, in the name of one Maibam Jine Devi of Kwakeithel Heinou Khongnembi.Jine was also later arrested by the commando team, it said adding one pass book containing three cheques was recovered from her.On verification she disclosed that the SBI debit card is used by her younger sister undergoing nurse training at Down Town hospital, Guwahati and used to deposit huge amount of money to the said account through her younger sister. In yet another incident, troops of 33 Assam Rifles under Loktak Brigade apprehended one cadre of PLA group who was identified as H Sanatomba Singh, 32, s/o H Amnjao Singh from Laphupat Tera Hiyangkhong, stated a PIB release.It further disclosed that the arrested cadre was working under s/s lt Ingobi alias Suresh since January 2007 and was responsible for harbouring and sheltering arms and ammunitions for the group.In yet another incident, troops of 16 Maratha Light Infantry under Loktak Brigade of Red Shield apprehended three OGW from Bishnupur district on May 14, they were identified as Idangmayum Brojan, 40, s/o I. Brojamani fromThinunggei ward number-9, a cadre of PLA, Inothombi, 36, s/o Khomei Singh from Kumbi, Bishnupur, a cadre of PREPAK and S Jogindro Singh, 42, s/o S Baykun Singh from Irangbum Awang Leikai, Bishnupur, a cadre of PLA. A total of Rupees one lakh sixty seven thousand four hundred twenty were recovered from them, it added.
