AMUCO appeals for mass participation at Unity Day

IMPHAL, June 8: In connection with “Unity Day” to be observed on June 18, the Imphal East United Club Organisation (IEUCO) has donated a sum of rupees 95,000 to the All Manipur United Club Organisation (AMUCO).
A formal handing over of the money was held today at the AMUCO head office located at Kwakeithel in which the IEUCO president Shyamsunder handed over the amount AMUCO president, KT Rehman.
While speaking during the handing over ceremony, Shyamsunder stated that the money donated today by IEUCO to the AMUCO were collected from various institute and individuals of Imphal East district. The donors inlcude Zilla Parisad members, various government departments located in Imphal East, contractors, suppliers, government schools and private schools etc. The amount were collected with active help and support from local clubs and Meira Paibis organizations of the district.
Briefing media persons AMUCO president, KT. Rehman noted that the mass rally organised by the organization on August 4, 1997 and the June 18 incident of 2001, for confronting substantial threat against the territorial integrity of the state, is a testimony that nothing could compromised the integrity of Manipur.
He appealed all the sections of the society to come together in paying fitting floral tributes to those who laid down their lives while safeguarding the territory of the state. 
AMUCO president also maintained that the “Unity Day” which marked the commemoration of those brave souls was not an observation concentrating on a single community but observed for the cause of all the communities settling in the state.KT. Rehman also urged different NGOs and governments agencies to extend their co-operation in making the observation a grand success as did in previous years.
