Blood donation organised as part of June 18 observation

IMPHAL, June 18: As part of its June 18 observation, the Voluntary Unit Committee, RIMS Imphal in collaboration with Department of Immuno Haematology and Blood Transfusion, RIMS hospital jointly oganised the 11th voluntary Blood Donation camp on the theme “A tribute to the martyr who made a supreme sacrifice to protect the territorial integrity of our motherland on June 18, 2001”, at the department of Immuno Haematology and Blood Transfusion RIMS today.

Altogther 38 volunteers irrespective of tribe, color and caste including female volunteers donated blood during the camp. Worth mentioning is that a couple identified as Elangbam Lokendra and his wife Sanjay Mahawar have donated their blood during the camp today and has been regular precious donors since 2001.

In the meantime, during the formal inauguration of the camp at RIMS blood bank medical superintendent RIMS mentioned that, since the state of Manipur falls under the conflict zones there have been numerous occurrences of crimes and unwanted incidents which has made it a must for organizing more and more blood donation camps in the state with an objective to save life of people.

Later, the representatives of the Voluntary Health Unit, RIMS also expressed their appreciation to all the volunteer donors for their voluntarily donating their blood and the staffs of IHBT, RIMS hospital for assisting them in making the camp a grand success today.
