CBI team arrives in state to intensify investigation on pending cases

IMPHAL, June 5: A six member team of the Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI, special crime branch (SCB) Kolkata led by NM Singh, IPS, Senior SP of CBI has arrived at the state capital today in relation to the various pending cases of the state taken up by the CBI.The visiting official team will intensify investigations on the various pending cases which includes the 2009 assassination of Prof. Islamuddin inside the Manipur University campus by unidentified gunmen suspected to be militants and the recent case of shooting of Irom Rozer of Wangkhei Angom Leikai, involving a son of state IFCD minister N Biren during March this.It may be mentioned that, the team of CBI branch stationed in state has made a major achievement by submitting the charge-sheet against the nine police personnel including two inspectors of Police to the state government soon after the completion of their investigation to the case related to the BT road firing on July 23, 2010 in which a pregnant women Rabina Devi and a former underground member Sanjit was killed and injured five others.According to an official source the CBI branch stationed in the state will intensify its investigation in the various major cases taken up by the agency during their stay in the state.
