CORE calls for govt sympathy towards Lamphel eviction

IMPHAL,June 13: The Centre for Organisation Research & Education (CORE) has expressed its deep concern over the June 6 force eviction at the Lamphel Yaipha Leikai without proper rehabilitation and resettlement to the effected people forcing about 14 households with 70 individuals to render homeless.

According to a release of the centre, the eviction notice was reportedly pasted on June 5 this month and the eviction took placed on June 6 morning.

It is further mentioned that, the said eviction notice did not give enough time nor has the government provided any compensation or rehabilitation policy for the affected people.

It has further maintained that pregnant women and children suffer the worst and needs immediate health care intervention. It is the duty of government to follow due process of law while eviction takes place and provide prior information to the consent to the going to be affected people.

The CORE through its press statement urged the government of Manipur to have dialogue with the affected people of Lamphel Yaipha Leikai to have amicable solution according to law at the earliest for the end justice, the releases added.
