Education minister expresses happiness over higher pass percentage in HSLC

IMPHAL June 12: The education minister DD Thaisii has expressed his happiness that the pass percentage in this years’ HSLC exam conducted by the BOARD of Secondary Education Manipur whose results were declared late this evening is surprisingly high.

The minister was speaking at a simple function held at the office of the Board of Secondary Education Manipur in connection with the declaration of the results.

However replying to a query on the poor performance of the government schools as compared to their private run counterparts, the education minister while acknowledging the fact that the government schools are yet to perform as their private counterparts, also mentioned that since his inception of the ministry, he is trying his level best to addressed the matter and is trying to discerned the facts first.

He further added that the gaps will be filled and corrections will be made in order to improve the system at the earliest.

While further commenting on the mushrooming of private schools in the state, the education minister added that a state cabinet will be conveyed to decide upon how to control the situation.

Meanwhile the minister also expressed that the pass percentage grossed 71 percent this year while the pass percentage in last years examination was a mere 61 percent. He also added that more students have passed in the second and the first division this time around.
