IMPHAL, June 26: A day long protest sit-in was held today at Khurai Ahongei in demand for proper investigation into the death of Haobam Robindro, who was found dead in controversial circumstances near his rented building at North AOC, Imphal on June 18 evening.
It may be recalled that Robindro alias Imu, 48, s/o late Pakpa of Khurai Ahongei was found dead near his rented building at North AOC barely an hour after he went out from his home on June 18 evening to collect monthly rent from his tenants.
Speaking to media persons during today’s protest, family members of late Robindro told reporters that they came to know about Robindro’s death only when a person from Khurai Ahongei informed family members through the telephone.
Initial report suggests that Robindro died after he felled down from the roof of the building, but the post mortem report contradicted the earlier theory, one family member of the deceased Robindro told reporters adding that there were bruise marks at the head of Robindro’s corpse as also obvious signs of his neck being twisted.
Even though the post mortem and last rites of Robindro have been performed, we are demanding a thorough and clean investigation into his killing the family member demanded and urged concerned authority to look into the matter seriously.
