IMPHAL, June 28: At least five cadres belonging to different under ground outfits including one cadre of the proscribed PREPAK and three cadres of KCP were apprehended by security forces during separate counter insurgency related operations conducted in different parts of the state during the last two days.
According to an official release of the SP Imphal East, a combined team of the Imphal east district police commandos and the personnel of 30 Assam Rifles has arrested a cadre of the proscribed PREPAK (VC) identified as Nongthombam Kenedy alias Yohen Singh 25, s/o N Megha Singh of Pourabi Mayai Leikai from his locality this early morning at around 4 am.
The release further mentioned that during initial verification of the arrested cadre, he revealed to the security forces that he is an active member of PREPAK (VC) and he joined the outfit in the month of November 2010 through one Basan of his locality and was trained at the NSCN (K) camp located at Chumukedina and added that he is working under the s/s sgt. major Japan of the outfit.
He further revealed that he was involved in extortion of money from general public, government officials etc, and providing shelter to PREPAK cadres and transportation of arms and ammunition from one place to another, the official release added.
In yet another incident a team of the Imphal West district police commandos acting on a credible information about the presence of a hard core women cadre of KCP, conducted a specific raid with the presence of women police and arrested one women cadres of KCP (Moramba Faction) identified as Nongmaithem Ningol Sanaoujam Ongbi Boby Devi alias Babi, 37, w/o S Premchand Singh of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai this afternoon around 12.30 pm from her parental house.
According to a release of the Imphal West police, during preliminary interrogation the arrested women cadre disclosed that, she joined the outfit three years back through one Tomba alias Boynao alias Ibungo of Kakching and she has been actively involved in various cases of extortions from different government departments for raising party funds.
In the meantime an official statement of the SP Imphal West further mentioned that, two more active cadres of KCP (Nongthang Group) identified as Laishram Nanao, 40 s/o L Parijat of Thangmieband Sinam Leikai and Ningthoujam Ananta Singh, 30, s/o Gyanendra of Thangmeiband Luwanghanjaba Leikai were arrested from Sagolband Bijoy Govinda ground yesterday afternoon by a team of Imphal West district police commandos at about 1.30 pm.
The release further mentioned that during spot verification, the arrested persons informed the police that they were active members of the under ground KCP (Nongthang Group) and they were working under the command of one Ranjit alias Ibomcha alias Nonthang of Thoubal Athokpam and both were reportedly assigned to serve demand letters to the officials of state forest department residing somewhere at Thangmeiband for their party fund the release added.
The release also further mentioned that, another team of Imphal West district police commandos also apprehended one cadre of the underground group KCP (Taibanganba Group), identified as Oinam Nelson alias Thoi alias Rajesh alias Leibaknganba alias John, 19, s/o late O Nilachandra Singh of Pishum Oinam Leikai on June 26 morning at about 10 am from his house.
The official release further mentioned that, during preliminary interrogation Nelson revealed that, he is working under the command of one Joykishan alias Kishan (district commander of the outfit) and he was reportedly assigned to serve demand letters to various doctors, businessmen, government employees and also transportation of arms and ammunition from one place to another place under the instruction of Joykishan.
Further he also disclosed that he is a former cadre of the UNLF and later joined the KCP (Taibanganba group) recently, the release added.
