IMPHAL, June 16: GOC 57 Mountain division Major General DS. Hooda has today opened a Red Shield Peace camp for the NCC cadets of Churachandpur at the Rayburn college of New Lamka.
The camp organised by the 39 Assam Rifles and which will conclude on June 21, will conduct a number of adventure activities for the benefit of the NCC cadets which will include various activities such as Para Sailing, Rock Climbing, Firing of Small Arms and a Cycle expedition of 70 kms from Churachandpur to Thinghat and back.
Besides that classes will also be given on physical training, weapon training, map reading, use of GPS, unarmed combat, KARVA MAGA, career counseling and also classes to impart on leadership traits, motivation and case studies.
An official statement of the army in this regard said that such camp helps in nurturing the youths to be discipline and dutiful for a better and brighter future. It inculcates a spirit of courage, selfless sacrifice, sense of patriotism and self confidence and at the same time help the army to learn the dynamic and composite culture, it added.
Short speeches from Brigadier Surender Mehta (commander 27 sector Assam Rifles, Lt. Col Shanta Sapam, CO 14 Manipur Battalion NCC, cultural and entertainment performance by local artists, photo session marked the inaugural function of the camp.
Col. Vineeta Sharma, commandant 39 AR Thinghat and Thangchinmawi, principal Rayburn College, were also present in the occasion.
