IE police arrest fradulant `Mithuna traders` kigpin from Guwahati

IMPHAL, June 29: A team of Imphal East police led by OC K Gitachandra has arrested the absconding kingpin of fraudulent trading company “Mithuna Traders” which had collected a huge amount of money on the pretext of delivering household goods at the cheapest rate.

Addressing a press conference today at Imphal East Police Headquarters, SP Clay Khongsai stated that K Muthiraman of Tamil Nadu in connivance with his associates duped large number of customers in the state on false promise of selling household items at the cheapest price and ran away on January 3, 2011 after collecting nearly Rs three crores.

He had started his business in Manipur in November 2010 by opening a shop “Mithuna Traders” in a rented building of Haji Sabir, Minuthong Telipati Road, Imphal East. A case FIR No. 4(1)2011PRT PS u/s 420/406/34 IPC was registered in this connection.

The SP further stated that after prolonged and sustained efforts to locate the whereabouts of the accused through sources, it was known that the accused K Muthuraman along with his associates is staying in Guwahati using a fake name to conceal his identity and running a trading shop by the name “Sarwana Traders” at Bata Building, first floor, NR Malegaon Charali, Guwahati, Assam.

Consequently, a police team of Porompat PS led by OC Gitachandra was sent to Guwahati and K Muthuraman along with two associates were arrested and brought back to Imphal on June 28. The arrested accused persons are K Muthuraman, 41, s/o Karuppaiyan of Thiruchitrambalam village, Tanjavar District, Tamil Nadu, K Subramaniam, 37, s/o Korbaya of Thiruchitrabalam, Tanjavure district, Tamil Nadu and K Thatchina Moorthi, 29, s/o Kumaraval of Mankata Alangudi Talak Puddukottai, Tamil Nadu.

In view of rising incidents of anti-social elements, drug traffickers and UGs taking shelter in rented houses, the district police of Imphal East have also taken the initiative to verify the tenants residing in various parts of Imphal East to create a safe neighbourhood and to instill a sense of confidence amongst the public.
