Mobilization prog on Alzheimer calls for proper implementation of schemes

IMPHAL June 29: To reach-out proper health care and nutrition to persons suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, implementation of a proper scheme is highly needed so is the strengthening of the existing Manipur State mental health authority and policies need to be revise and development of a full fledged mental hospital of the state is aptly needed said H. Sanamatum Singh, general secretary of Alzheimer’s related disorder society of India Manipur chapter while giving keynote address at the inauguration of a One day community mobilization programme on Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia in the present situation in Manipur.

The programme was held inside the premises of Jawarharlal Nehru Institute of Nursing located at Soibam Leikai Porompat, Imphal. The one day mobilization programme was held under the theme “to access human rights for the older persons’ community in Manipur”.

Drawing the attention of the concerned department of social welfare and the Directorate of Family welfare government of Manipur, Sanamatum opined that there is a need to implement state programme for older people’s policy.

He also appealed the CM and the concerned health authority to provide a state budget for Alzheimer’s disease under state social welfare.

The objective of the programme is to disseminate timely information and collective understanding on this disease.

‘N. Sharmila Devi, principal, J.N. Institute of Nursing presided over the one day function while Rk. Tilotama Devi District Family welfare Officer Imphal east graced the function as chief guest.

Moirangthem Meghachandra, senior health educator at the department of Community Medicine RIMS was the resource person of today’s function.

The One day community mobilization programme on Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia in the present situation in Manipur was organized by Alzheimer’s & related disorder society of India Manipur Chapter.
