MPCC observes Sanjay Gandhi`s 31st death anniversary

IMPHAl June 23: The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee today observed the 31st death anniversary of Sanjay Gandhi in a simple function held at Congress Bhawan, today. 

The observance began with offering of floral tributes by the Congress members.

MPCC president Gaikhangam, vice president AK Mirabai Devi, ex minister Ngamthang Haokip,ex minister D Korungthang, ex minister Francis Ngajokpa, ex minister A Aza, MPCC general secretary Bidyapati Senjam, L Ttilotama, secretay attended the observation.

Addressing the gathering today, Gaikhangam said that Sanjay Gandhi was a true and selfless leader who was far sighted and worked for the common good of the public.

His mother, the then Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi while initiating the 20 points program also heeded Sanjay’s opinion to add five more points, he added.

The issue of tree plantation, slum clearance, family planning, eradication of illiteracy and blood donation were initiated by the late Sanjay Gandhi, stated the president.

His endeavours have won the love of the populace and he is being fondly remembered till today, MPCC also pays tribute to the leader, he was born as second child to Indira Gandi on December 14,1946 and expired on 23 July 1980, he said
