NIC to lead fact finding team at Kabo Leikai

IMPHAL, June 26: A national fact finding team led Dr John Dayal, member of the National Integration Council, New Delhi will be visiting the state capital tomorrow to find out the decision taken by Manipur govt to convert Imphal Hotel to a five star category by acquiring Kabo Leikai.

The fact-finding team will also be joined by Madhu Chandra, spokesperson of North East Support Centre and Helpline and PRO All India Christian Council, Delhi and other social workers and human rights activist from different parts of the state, a release of AICC said today.

It further said Imphal Hotel currently holds about 4.5 acres of land, which is slightly smaller than the Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi where the US President stayed in his last visit to the country.

Delhi has eight times larger population than Manipur and hundred times crowded in terms of tourists and international visitors, it stated.

The size of the present area acquired by Imphal Hotel and surrounding government land is more than enough for the proposed five-star hotel, the AICC release said adding there could be Manipur government’s hidden agenda in converting Imphal Hotel to the status of a five-star hotel.
