Official team to inspect progress of NEC funded projects in state

IMPHAL, June 23: An official team of the North Eastern Council, Government of India will be on a three day visit in the state from June 27 and will leave on June 30 to conduct a comprehensive assessment of various projects and schemes implemented in the state under NEC fundings.

According to an official source the visiting team will be headed by UK. Sangma, secretary NEC and will include JP Sharma, joint secretary, ministry of DoNER, concerned secretaries of tourism department of Nagaland and Tripura and other related officials from NEC and will arrived in the state capital at 9.30 am.

The team that will arrive from Guwahati will be given official reception at Imphal Airport by the a team of state officials led by special secretary (Planning).

The source further mentioned that, the visiting team from NEC will attend meetings regarding IFAD assisted NERCORMP-III which will be attended by state chief secretary, DS Poonia, principal secretary Planning and DC concerns of Chandel, Senapati, Churachandpur and Ukhrul along with project manager (UDCRMS/ SEDCORMS) at the office chamber of the state chief secretary.

The meeting which will start at 11 am of June 27 will review various projects and schemes implemented under the NEC in the state, added the source.

The visiting will also inspect some of the major project sites including ISBT, State Assembly Complex, High Court at Chingmeirong, Khuman Lampak, Shija Blood bank and JNIMS, the source added

According to the source, the team will also visit the border town of Moreh and inspect the construction site of the Integrated Check post on June 28.

On june 2, the NEC team will continue with their tour and visit Churachandpur an inspect the the Tribal Hostel, Renkai School, Guest House, Khuga Water Supply etc.

The team will also held a meeting at the Hotel Classic at Imphal with state officials at 4 pm of June 29 and make a presentation of the tourism Master plan for the North East including the state, the source added.
