Sangaiyumphum warring clans fight again, leaves one hurt

IMPHAL, June 29: Clashes between two clans, Makakmayum and Phundreimayum, residing at Sangaiyumpham area in Thoubal district has once again erupted yesterday thereby leaving at least one person injured. 

This is the third instance of clashes between the two clans of the area, since it first erupted in May this year. Scores of properties belonging to both the clans were destroyed in the earlier two clashes besides leaving injuries to several members of the two warring clans.

In yesterday’s incident, one person sustained bullet injury as he was reportedly shot at from close range by some members of the opposing clan.

The injured person belonging to the Makakmayum clan has been identified as Makakmayum Rajak, 25 s/o Allaudin of Sangaiyumpham Cherapur. He sustained bullet injuries at his stomach and thigh and is undergoing treatment at RIMS.

According to family members of Rajak, some members of Phundreimayum clan started attacking houses belonging to Makakmayum clan at Sangaiyumpham area at around 3pm yesterday.

Later in the evening at around 8pm, Rajak was shot at by some person who intruded into his house while family members were having dinner together.
