Several sets of street lamp distribute

IMPHAL June 28: Several sets of street lamp were distributed this evening to individuals of Sagolband A/C in a simple function held at the resident of Rajkumar Imo Singh, active member of Congress I.

Imo said that 20 years ago, his father late Rk. Joychandra, former CM, was actively involved in installing street lamps in Sagolband A/C during his prime years in officialdom. However, since the last couple of years due to gradual withering of the lamps coupled with non existence of refurbishment work has caused severe inconvenience to the commuters during the night.

Further, the situation was aggravated with the recent widening of road carried out on the stretch of NH 53 that had uprooted many lamp-post situated on this side of the road.

Keeping stock of the arising necessity in the constituency, the distribution of street lamp was arranged as a token of good will gesture in continuation of his father’s welfare deeds some 20 years ago, expressed Imo during today’s function.

The distribution of the lamps is carried out ward wise with the objective to install every nook and corner of this constituency, he added.

Altogether 50 such lamps had already been dispersed in Amudon Leirak, Sagolband A/C.

In a similar act, yesterday as well, he had donated over 2 litres of kerosene oil to each family of Mabuthou Mantri Maipak Lampak and Bijoy Govinda Mamang Leikai. He also disclosed that preparations are made for further continuation of his gesture for the development and welfare in Sagolband A/C that will be implemented in due course of time.

In the mean time, yesterday in collaboration with the IFCD, he had donated 5000 cement bags and 60 chataes (bamboo mat) to be used by the Amudon Akham Leikai club against the imminent danger of being inundated by Nambool River, he said. Due to torrential rain fall since the last 2/3 days the Nambul River has swelled to a dangerous point.
