SF arrest militant cadres along with bank accounts used in money transferring

IMPHAL, June 1: Security forces arrested at least five militant cadres belonging to different militant groups and three over ground workers of UTLA during separate counter insurgency operation launched at different parts of the state.

A statement issued by the Superintendent of Police Imphal West district, a team of the district police commandos arrested one active member of the proscribed KYKL yesterday at around 6 am from his house. He has been identified as one Moirangthem Sonish alias Inao alias Sunil, 33, s/o M. Tombi of Kakwa Maneirakpam Leikai.

It said that the individual is working under the command of one Hari alias Udoi alias Sunil, deputy finance secretary of the KYKL, who was assigned to extort money from general public and Governemnt office. Moreover he disclosed that he used to transfer money through SBI account No. 30288001274 and one account No. 23/563 in the name of Konthoujam Prakash of Imphal Urban Co-operative Bank, it maintained.

In another follow up action another active member of KYKL was arrested on the same day from his residence at about 5:30 pm yesterday, identified as one Irengbam Jugin alias Jugindro Singh, 54, s/o (L) I. Leiren Singh of Keisamthong Top Leirak, the release added.

According to the release, the arrested cadre disclosed that he was a former member of PREPAK in 1982 and then joined PLA in 1999 as Ichou alias Lamyanba under Dilip Leisemba of the outfit. He joined the KYKL in 2010 udner Hari and was assigned to extort money and transfer it from one place to another including outside the state. A Nokia handset was seized from his possession.

The SP further stated that the same day at about 2 pm a combined team of the district police commandos and 18 Sikh Regiment arrested one KCP (MTF) from his residence.

The individual is identified as one Yumlambam Sanatomba alias Ibungo, 35, s/o Y. Ibocha of Wangoi Thiyam Leikai. He joined the group through one Keso c in c of the outfit and was assigned for extorting money for the group.

Another statement issued by the PIB Defence Wing, has stated that the 4/8 Gorkha Rifles under Red Shield Division alongwith Bishnupur Police Commandos have arrested one s/s capt of the of ZUF, Joseph Gonmei,30, r/o Longmei Nonei IV, Tamenglong district from Ngaryan.

It said Joseph revealed that he had joined NSCN (IM) in 2000 and was a s/s sergeant major stationed at Nonei. He further added that he is one of the founding members of ZUF formed after breaking away from NSCN (IM) and admitted that he is the chief recruiting officer and the town commander of Imphal and the training officer, further asserted the statement.

The statement further said that the 11 AR of 59 Mountain Brigade of Red Shield Division apprehended an NSCN (IM) cadre from Tamenglong town, today. The cadre has been identified as sgt maj Athiko s/o Nipuni r/o village Kaibie and was apprehended with one pistol, two rounds and a number of incriminating documents was recovered from himstated the release.

Yet in another operation launched on May 31, troops 22 AR of 57 Mountain Artillery Brigade apprehended three OGW of UTLA from the general area of Chhota Bekra Bazar.

The three OGs were identified as one Mangtinkhual alias Mangkhual, 27, s/o Henkhosoi of Suangphunmun, Paumalsom alias Malsom, 25, s/o Henkhosoi Suangphunmun and Thanglelin Singson, 36, s/o Slitinkai, b/o late James Kuki and present UTLA chief Robert Singson, of Saikulphai. They were handed over to the Jiribam Police Station, said the statement.
