SF arrests three militants in seperate CI Ops

IMPHAL, June 4: At least three militant cadres were arrested by security forces during separate counter insurgency operations today.According to a statement of the SP Imphal West, a combined team of the Imphal West district police commandos and 10 Assam Rifles arrested two members of PREPAK (VC) in the morning today around 9:45 am from Kakwa Naorem Leikai near Lairembi.The arrested cadre have been identified as one Ningombam Lokeshore Singh, 42, s/o (L) N. Nungshi Singh of Thougju Part II and Thongam Ibohal Singh, 46, s/o (L) Th. Noyon Singh of Thongju Part II.The statement has further stated that on spot verification the two disclosed that they joined the outfit in the year 2009 through one s/s captain Kanto, and were assigned to extort money from PWD contractors and shopkeepers for party fund.One 9mm pistol with one live round in the chamber and one live round of 9mm in the magazine was seized from the possession of Lokeshore, it said.In a separate incident a combined team of 17 Assam Rifles and 23 Assam Rifles has arrested one cadre of the proscribed KCP militant in the wee hours today at around 4 am from a joint operation conducted at the general area of Gwaltabi of Ukhrul district.According to an official statement, the individual a s/s sergeant major of the outfit is identified as one KS. Thoicha, 36, s/o Romanjao of Singjamei Sarukhaibam Leikai, Imphal West.One country made 9 mm pistol was recovered from him and he along with the recovered items have been handed over to the Porompat Police station, informed the statement issued by th PRO IGAR (S).
