IMPHAL, June 2: A combined team of the Bishnupur district police commandos and 18 Sikh Regiment has arrested two hard core cadres of KCP (MTF) City Meitei while conducting counter insurgency operation in the general area of Irom Meijrao Mamang Leikai and Mayang Imphal Konchak Nongmeikapam Leikai today at around 1:30 am.
The arrested cadres are identified as Thingbaijam Shyamkanhai Singh, 37, s/o Th. Kunjo Singh of Irom Meijrao Mamang Leikai and Nongmeikapam Gorojao alias Opendro Singh, 41, s/o N. Dhananjoy Singh of Mayang Imphal Konchak Nongmeikapam Leikai.
A statement issued by the SP Bishnupur district stated that one mobile handset (G-five) with SIM number 9856766175, 12 numbers of camouflage pants and 14 numbers of camouflage shirts were recovered from Shyamkumar while one mobile hand set (Lemon) SIM No. 9862319499 was recovered from Gorojao alias Opendro.
It further stated that Shyamkumar along with his associates had planned to indulge in anti social activities such as snatching of weapons from security forces deployed in and around Imphal area by disguising themselves as security forces with the help of the uniforms which were seized from him.
In the meantime, Gorojao alias Opendro was actively involved in the collection of programme list/works orders for various developmental works from the department of IFCD, PWD, Minor Irrigation, Social Welfare, etc and also collection of percentage as party fund from many government contractors. And they have been handed over to the Wangoi Police Station and Mayang Imphal Police respectively, further adds the statement.
