IMPHAL JUNE 17: Two cadres of the KCP (MC) Chumthang group including a woman have been arrested by a team of Imphal East police and recovered three Chinese hand grenade from their possession.
According to the Imphal East police the arrested cadres have been identified as Gurumayum Prabha Devi, 40, w/o G Gourachandra of Ningthoukhong Gopinath Leikai now staying at Brahmapur Nahabam near Basketball ground and Md Adbul Kalam 28, s/o Md Samat Ali of Kwakta now staying at Porompat Pangal Leirak.
According to the OC Imphal East police, K. Gitchandra, during interrogation of the two arrested militant cadres, Prabha Devi disclosed that the three Chinese made hand grenades were handed over to her by one K.C. Meitei about a week ago, which she later handed over to Md Adul Kalam so that he could intimate some government officials which include an employee of the Lamphel Khadi department office, another employee of the PWD and a private Tera Sapam Leirak residence of an engineer.
The OC convened a press conference in regards to the arrest of the two militants at the office complex of the Porompat PS.
The OC also mentioned that Prabha Devi had been arrested earlier on two counts by the Bishnupur Police and the Moirang police and had been remanded to judicial custody for a month by the Moirang police on charges of being a cadre of the proscribed KCP (MC).
However, soon after her release from custody, she joined the party again, the OC further stated.
The OC who personally led the team that arrested the two from separate locations stated that while Prabha Devi was arrested from Brahmapur Nahabam near Basketbal ground, Md Abdul Kalam was arrested from Porompat Pangal Leirak today.
Meanwhile, A combined team of Imphal West district police commandos and 18th Sikh Regiment has arrested one self styled corporal of the proscribed KYKL militant this afternoon around 1 pm, informed a statement of the Imphal West SP.
The arrested individual is identified as one Loitongbam Munindro Meitei alias Rocky, 36, s/o (L) Khongoi of Wangoo Tera Hodam Leirak (army No.858).
It said that on spot verification he disclosed that he joined the outfit in the year 2007 and got basic military training at Burma as 26th Batch and is working under the command of one S/S Sgt. Major Litpa of the outfit.
