UG poser sets passenger vehicle ablaze

IMPHAL, June 13: A passenger vehicle was set ablaze by individuals identifying themselves as RPF/PLA early morning today at Tabungkhok Makha Leikai, under Patsoi police station, Imphal West district.

Reports said that the vehicles bearing registration number MN06L-4551 (Tata Winger) was torched by miscreants around 7:15 am.

According to the driver of the vehicle Thoi Thoi, the vehicle has been plying along the NH-39 from Imphal to Dimapur. He went to Nambol this morning following instruction from its concern booking counter, Imphal. As per the instruction he picked a passenger from Nambol who further instructed him to go to Changangei area to pick another accomplice however he later led him to Tabungkhok area. There he was forced to leave by the passenger on board who identified himself as a member of the banned RPF/PLA militant, said the Driver.

The vehicle belonging to one Khundrakpam Loken of Thoubal, was later set ablaze beyond redemption. However the motive behind the arson was yet to be established till the filing of this report.

Meanwhile, unidentified persons have torched an excavator on the intervening night of June 12 and 13 at Andro Khunou Ward No 11.

Local sources said that the excavator was parked near the gate of one Phanjoubam Tiken, 32, since June 12 as one of the rear tyres got punctured.

The excavator was in the village to clear drains and canals in Andro Khunou Ward No. 11.

The owner of the excavator has been identified as one S Shyam of Yairipok Yambem.

The heavy earth moving machinery had most of its vital parts damaged due to the fire.

Meanwhile, Andro MLA Th Shyamkumar visited and inspected the burnt excavator this morning.
