ADC Bhawan construction near completion: Chief Minister

IMPHAL, July 18: A ministerial team led by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has inspected the ongoing construction works of Autonomous District Council Bhawan at Chingmeirong and State TB and Leprosy Hospital at Keirao Wangkhem today.

The construction of the ADC Bhawan is near completion although its approach road from the highway is yet to be developed further. The Bhawan has altogether 33 rooms in the southern block and 27 rooms in the northern block.

The team also inspected certain locations inside the 2nd MR Complex and Lei-Ingkhol where ADC members could be given safe shelter following threats and intimidations from some organizations decrying the establishment of autonomous district councils in the hill districts.

O Ibobi further instructed the concerned officials to properly fence the 8.5 acre compound of Lei-Ingkhol along with blacktopping of the approach road. 

Speaking on the sidelines of his tour at the ADC Bhawan, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi stated that the state government has devolved much power to the autonomous district councils and so the members are expected to deliver the best of their service to ensure the democratic rights to the people. The remaining departments would also be devolved to the ADC soon, he added.

The team also inspected the state TB and Leprosy hospital at Keirao Wangkhem which is being constructed at the cost of Rs. 4.5 crores. The building is expected to be complete by June next year.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by education minister DD Thaisii, deputy chairman of state planning board, Bijoy Koijam chief secretary DS Poonia, DGP Y Joykumar and other officials of the concerned departments.
