IMPHAL, July 28: All Manipur Progressive Farmers’ Association has strongly condemned the agriculture department for failing to provide the much needed fertilizers to the farmers of the state in time.
Addressing media persons today at Keishampat, the coordinator of All Manipur Progressive Farmers’ Association, Thoiba Konthoujam stated that agriculture in the state needs to be carried out in a time bound manner and the department concerned should take up necessary steps to ensure the timely completion of all agricultural practices. However, the state agriculture department has even failed to provide fertilizers to the farmers.
He further asserted that the failure of the agriculture department will have a negative impact on the socio-economic condition of the state. The NGOs and other social organizations should also think the welfare of the farmers by rendering them all possible assistances, Thoiba enjoined.
The coordinator further announced that the association will render utmost help to all farmers of the state with the objective of enhancing agriculture for sustainable development of the state.
