Body resents govt indifference on progress of work in NH- 37

IMPHAL, July 21: Expressing strong resentment over the unprogressive and delayed road works on NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam highway), the United Club NH -37 president Thongnam Syama Khaba Nganba has slammed the state government for its inability to properly monitor and evaluate the works carried out by the BRTF/BRO.

Talking to mediapersons in this regard at its Takyel office, he has stated that the delay in the completion of maintenance works on the highway is due to the state government’s inability to pressurize the implementing agency BRTF/BRO.

He even mocked the Chief Minister and his cabinet ministers by stating that their inability to converse in English or Hindi is the main reason behind their apprehension over meeting the BRTF/BRO officials. Further lamenting the death of six- security personnel in an unfortunate accident wherein a rock boulder had fallen upon their vehicle, he added that there are many more such rock boulders hanging along the highway.

He further stressed upon the need of implementing the Inner Line permit before the introduction of the railways into the state.
