Bombs hurled at Ukhrul ADC office

IMPHAL, July 23: One of the two bombs hurled by unidentified miscreants inside the office complex  of Ukhrul district Autonomous District Council (ADC) today exploded. Nobody was hurt in the incident, said the police.

The bomb exploded in the wee hours today at the ADC office in Phungreitang, two km south of Ukhrul police station, said the police.

On searching the office complex after the explosion, the police located another unexploded Chinese made bomb nearby.

The explosion caused no casualty to life but certain portion of the office building was defaced  and damaged by the splinters of the exploded bomb, added the police.

The ADC office at Ukhrul and other Naga dominated areas have remained nonfunctional because several Naga civil society organizations had been against the holding of the two decade-long stalled ADC elections last year. While the government conducted the elections with high security deployment, the results have not yet been endorsed by the aggrieved Naga civil bodies.
