Combined forces seize crores worth of contraband drugs

IMPHAL, July 7: A combined forces of 29, 28 Assam Rifles along with Lilong police and Tengnoupal police seized contraband drugs worth over crores of rupees from the possession of a person at Lilong Loumanga area in the wee hour today.

The arrested persons have been identified as Abdul Kalam, 30, s/o Md Abdul Sattar of Lilong Loumanga.

Speaking to media persons during a press conference today at the 29 AR post Lilong, an officer of the post stated that 29 AR arrested a person yesterday from Lilong while conducting routine checking and frisking duty at Tengnoupal area.

On further interrogation he disclosed about huge bulk of concealed drugs at the residence of Abdul Kalam who is said to be a hard-core drug smuggler.

Based on the tip off provided by the arrested persons who name was not mentioned by the combined team on security ground, the combined team launched a joint operation after midnight around 12:30am.

The team recovered a 3.90 lakhs pieces of MUCOSON tablets from the residence of Abdul Kalam along with 17 lakhs rupees in cash. The tablets is said to be used in treatment of cold and cost about Rs 9 per strip at local market and Rs 30 in the black market.
