Committee alleges of `conspiracy` in Bishwajit`s case

IMPHAL, July 24: The Thongju Development Committee has today alleged the vigilance commission and Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD&PR) department of framing, Th. Biswajit, an aspirant candidate of Thongju Assembly constituency, under political influence in the wake of the upcoming 10th Manipur Legislative assembly election.

The committee urged the authority concerned to intervene into the matter at the earliest time failing which it warned to take its own course of action.  

A public meeting was held in this regard at the Kitna Panung Ningomthong ground wherein supporters and well wishers deliberately discussed about the issue.

Talking to media persons on the sideline of the meet, the committee said that Th. Biswajit a progress assistant in the RD&PR, tender his resignation statement on October 25, 2010 however his resignation was not accepted till date and rather put him under suspension.

He was put under suspension on the charge of ‘Possessing Disproportionate Asset’ besides lodging an FIR against him under the similar charge by the vigilance, the committee informed.

The committee pointed out that if a government employee wishes to completely resign from his post without demanding any compensation the integrity certificate does not arises, as demanded by the RD&PR in the case of Biswajit.

They claimed that during the assessment of allowance and salaries subsequent upon the charge of ‘Disproportionate Assets’ the vigilance department has left out 16 months. It has been informed that Biswajit Joint the RD&PR on November 15, 1997 and tender his resignation on October 2010, however the assessment was done till February 1999.

The committee held that the suspension of Biswajit has political implication as the manner he was put in is discriminatory when compare to other government officials at the same time the resignation was sought for contesting in the upcoming election, it said.

The executive members of the committee drew the attention of the Chief Minister of Manipur to intervene into the alleged conspiracy and fulfill the aspiration of the people to restore the true spirit of democracy in the Thongju assembly constituency.
