IMPHAL, July 17: Association of the DPC successful candidates for primary teachers/Hindi matriculate/Hindi graduate teachers 2006 has threaten to submit its agreement singed for the temporary post to the education department if the authority concerned fails to take up positive measures to clear the pending salary payments of the teachers by July 27.

Talking to media persons at the press club here today, Gunachandra Kakchingtabam, publicity secretary of the association, lamented that they have become a victim of electoral politics of the state government.

He opined that they were lured by the government in signing a contract for 11 months while promising to convert the temporary post into regular post.

Equating their present employment status to ‘forced labour’, he has maintained that the teachers are not receiving any salaries despite their dedication. Amidst such a scenario the government’s decision to recruit more teachers under RMSA is very unfortunate, he lamented.

He also construed the government’s attitude as anti youth as there is no visible measure from the government’s side to the issue till date.

While questioning the interest shown by the education minister and secretary (s) in RMSA and abandoning the contract teachers, Gunachandra stated that the minister concerned and officials should concede of being incompetent and resign on moral grounds as they have failed to address the grievances of the teachers.
