IW police advise on vehicle thefts

IMPHAL, July 29: Senior Superintendent of Police Imphal West on behalf of Imphal west district police has seek assistance and co-operations from different sections of the societies and public to prevent theft of vehicles and anti-social activities by miscreants.

An official statement issued by the SSP Imphal West, L Kailun, has mentioned that in the recent past, cases of theft of vehicles in the state has increase, especially theft of light two wheelers. On the other hand the district police have taken up a numbers of measures including increase patrolling and vigilance to prevent theft of vehicles in the district.

It further made suggestions to the public to ensure double locking systems to their respective vehicles while parking, install anti-theft devices like alarm systems, auto brake system, driving wheels locking systems etc to the vehicles, use proper and correct number plates so that in case of lost/theft of vehicle it can be easily traced/detained for verification by the police and public, always keep the original documents with the concerned owners and photocopies with the vehicle.

It is also officially suggested that, in case of lost/theft of vehicles, owners are advised to inform the police control room / police station immediately by giving the details of lost vehicles including registration numbers to the said phone numbers, 2458515 City Police station, 2450002 Imphal Police Station and 2450214 Control room, added the statement.
