IMPHAL, July 17: A fact finding committee to determine the truth behind the alleged rape case of a 14 year old girl of Keirao Makting Makha Leikai has been formed today under the joint initiative of various social bodies and leaders of Keirao assembly constituency.
The committee named “Keirao Kendra Fact Finding committee of Sakhina alias Mimi” was formed during a public meeting held this afternoon at Keirao, attended by various social leaders, clubs, meira paibis and intellectuals of the area and chaired by Alhaz Maurubi Rehmaddin.
After a deliberate discussion the meet also adopted numerous resolutions besides forming the fact finding committee.
It also appointed 19 members for the committee with Md. Nurjaman as the president and Md. Habir Rahman secretary.
The newly formed committee members also agreed to produce its findings within five days.
It was further agreed upon for the committee to take the statement of the girl today itself as the start of its fact finding endeavour and further decided that the all the accused will be booked and punished accordingly in case the accusations against them were found true.
It has further decided to press the brother of the girl RK Sahid to bring out evidences to support his allegations against some locals who he had charged to be involved in the case. He was further informed that failure to do so, any untoward or unwanted incidents arising out of the issue should be his sole responsibility.
Earlier during the meet Md. Nazir Ahmed, a convenor of the meeting, while addressing the people gathered there revealed that a similar meet was also held yesterday however it felt to come up with any conclusion due to confusions created by the girls brother.
He further alleged that RK. Sahid, disregarded the neutrality of the meet held last evening and fueled confusion with propagating its allegation resulting in disruption of the meet.
Nazir further alleged that Sahid even threaten him with his life if he do not walk away from the meeting.
It is worth noting that houses of two of the accused in the raping the 14 year old girl at Keirao Makting Leikai had been burned down last evening.
