`Militant arrested along with Chinese hand grenades`

IMPHAL, July 29: Security forces claimed to have arrested one active member of the proscribed KCP (MTF) and another sympathizer of the KCP (Lalheiba) yesterday from separate counter insurgency operations.

A release of the Imphal west district SSP has stated that acting on credible information, a combined team of the Imphal west district commandos and 18th Sikh Regiment had arrested an active member of the KCP (MTF) group, who has been identified as Houja Thomba Singh alias Sanatombi, 28, s/o H Maipak of Thanga Khunjao from Mayang Imphal Pokui on the morning of July 28 at around 7:30 am.

It has also added that one Chinese hand grenade and ten pieces of live detonator were seized from his possession.

The release has also claimed to have arrested one sympathizer of the KCP (Lalheiba) from Keishamthong Top Leirak machin on the same day at 4:30 pm by commandos of the district.

The arrested sympathizer has been identified as Potshangbam yaipharel, 31, s/o P Rajen of Khagempalli Panthak.

Further according to the release, the arrested individual has also disclosed during spot verification that he is working under the command of one Chanam Thaniljao alias Thanil, 48, of Uripok Huidrom Leikai.
